Andi Thornton
I'm the founder of ART Digital Media — a London-based agency that helps UK small businesses get cited by AI search engines, not just ranked by Google.
Most of what I write comes from working with real clients. When something works, I write it up. When something doesn't, I write that up too.
What I focus on
AI search has changed how potential customers find businesses. A page that ranks well on Google doesn't automatically appear in ChatGPT, Perplexity, or Google AI Overviews. The two systems reward different things.
I spend most of my time on the overlap: what makes a page credible enough to cite. That means answer-first writing, clean structured data, and consistent off-site presence — the boring fundamentals that most agencies skip because they don't show up immediately in a traffic report.
The big-budget agencies don't have a secret you don't. They just do these things more consistently.
Background
ART Digital Media started in 2020 as a web design and digital marketing agency for UK small businesses. The brief was simple: build websites that actually convert, and make sure the right people find them.
That evolved quickly. As Google's algorithm shifted and AI Overviews changed how search results look, it became clear that ranking well wasn't enough on its own. We started testing what it took to get cited — not just found — and that became the core of what we do now.
Today the work covers three areas: AI search optimisation and GEO, modern website design built for conversion and Core Web Vitals, and practical AI implementation for UK SMBs who want to use AI tools without the compliance headaches. Six years in, the focus has narrowed. That's deliberate.
Writing
I publish practical guides on AI search optimisation, modern website design for UK small businesses, and what the research actually says about AI tools (as opposed to what vendors claim).
